Microphor is pleased to announce the latest product improvement!
Microphor introduces a new synthetic filter media now available in all Microphor Railroad and Marine waste treatment tanks. The product is fully approved by the FDA for use on locomotives, transit cars and any rail application where on-board sewage treatment is desired. All Microphor Marine Sanitation Tanks are U.S. Coast Guard certified as Type II devices. In addition to the new media, we have new products to offer to assist in keeping our tanks and toilets functioning efficiently.
To meet our customer's demands we have developed an injection molded synthetic media as an alternative to our traditional redwood bark media. The new product has undergone over 2 years of development and testing both in-house and in various field beta applications. We have recently secured full FDA approval and our U.S. Patent number 6.875,353.
The benefits of the synthetic media are as follows:
- The new synthetic media will last longer than the tank body (good for a minimum of 10 years). Therefore media life cycle will no longer be the determining factor in tank replacement.
- The synthetic material does not retain chemicals that may be mistakenly deposited into the treatment tank. A tank with the new synthetic filter media can be cleaned with a high-pressure washer and/or vacuumed.
- The synthetic media is impervious to everything up to diesel and gasoline fuels. Of course the new filter media will not process inorganic solids like bottle caps, syringes, metallic objects, etc. any different than our redwood media. However, the new media can be cleaned using high-pressure cleaning/vacuuming annually.
- We are so confident in this new media that all waste tanks built with synthetic media will be covered by a FIVE (5) year product warranty.
